Green Square’s very own film buff Steve ‘Macker’ MacKenzie recently enjoyed a unique opportunity to visit the set of a forthcoming movie.

Set in London, ‘Good People’ is based on a novel by Marcus Sakey and is the first English language feature film by Danish director Henrik Ruben Genz.

The story revolves around a debt ridden American couple who discover a large amount of money, which leads to severe consequences. The film stars James Franco, Kate Hudson, Tom Wilkinson and Omar Sy.

Steve spent the day in Victoria Park, Hackney observing the filming of several scenes, which will appear towards the end of the film. He was allowed access to the director’s tent and watched Henrik and his team film and compose each scene.

Included in a hectic schedule were several angles for a scene involving James Franco & Kate Hudson being chased by a gang who are shooting at them, a scene where Tom Wilkinson’s character is shot plus other takes involving a getaway, a car interior and a cafe.

The day was extremely interesting and Steve was able to draw similarities between the worlds of film and design… ‘I think what impressed me the most is the craft of filming – it’s all really about teamwork. The attention to detail that goes into each scene is fascinating, the props, costumes, editing, continuity, lighting... everything is considered to the last detail to create something like a work of art.

‘All these elements can be linked to the work of Green Square, in particular the promotional films we produce for Terex. Our Terex TLB890 Promotional film demonstrates high production values, storyboarding and sharp editing to create a tight promotion tool that introduces the machine and reinforces the Terex brand. The process is essentially very similar, it is about attention to detail from start to finish. ‘
